Announcing “Swirl” - A New Event to Support Bailey-Boushay House

Virginia Mason supporters are in for a new and exciting event this August. We're combining the annual Chef's Dinner with the Grapes on the Green wine tasting for an evening of culinary delights called “Swirl.”

“We're excited to bring together a delicious multicourse meal from Chef''s Dinner with the selections from over 20 local wineries to create a truly unique experience,” says Eileen Harte, director of events at the Virginia Mason Foundation.

All proceeds will support Bailey-Boushay House (BBH). Guests will enjoy sweeping lakefront views at the Hyatt Regency Lake Washington at Seattle's Southport. We'll also host live and silent auctions with prizes like luxury vacations and meals at some of Seattle's most exclusive restaurants.

Eileen explained that Chef's Dinner has been getting bigger every year. Grapes on the Green has traditionally benefited the Benaroya Research Institute at Virginia Mason (BRI), but BRI is now focusing on a single fundraiser, the Illuminations Luncheon. This opened the door to adding the wine-tasting element from Grapes on the Green into BBH's annual fundraiser.

“Now we'll host the event in a bigger space at the peak of summer,” Eileen says. “And we hope to bring together those who have supported both events in the past to help BBH provide vital care and resources for their clients.”

BBH helps underserved community members with HIV/AIDS manage their disease. They also offer hot meals, community-building activities like hikes and holiday parties and an emergency homeless shelter. Funding from this event will significantly help the organization continue to provide both outpatient and inpatient programs.

“We opened Bailey-Boushay in 1992 to provide end-of-life care for patients with HIV/AIDS when no other place would take them,” says BBH's Executive Director Brian Knowles. “Now, over 25 years later, we can help most of our clients reach undetectable levels of HIV while also providing food, shelter and community. We wouldn't be able to do that without our donors' generous support.”

Swirl 2019 will be held August 23, 2019, at the Hyatt Regency on Lake Washington at Southport. Learn more about this exciting event. We hope to see you there!
