Longtime Supporters – Al and Kathy Lopus
When Al and Kathy Lopus moved to Seattle 21 years ago, they began a long-time partnership with Virginia Mason. "The first person we met was our neighbor Neil Hampson, a physician at the Center for Hyperbaric Medicine," Al recalls. "We've been patients at Virginia Mason ever since."
Al eventually joined the Virginia Mason Board of Governors and is now chair after serving for 15 years. He then joined the Virginia Mason Board, serving for 10 years.
Inspiration to Give
The Lopuses have supported a variety of Virginia Mason causes over time.
"What inspires us to give to Virginia Mason is that we know the money is going to have an impact on the quality of care and value people receive. We are thrilled to be part of an organization that’s transforming health care not just in the United States, but around the world," Al says.
"I like that every year, there is a different focus for fundraising, particularly at the Dreambuilders' Ball, and you can learn about a need that you might not have known about before," Kathy says.
Best Workplaces
Al is President and Kathy is Program and Office Manager of the Best Christian Workplaces Institute. "Professionally, we are all about helping workplaces be the best they can be," she comments. "So it's very gratifying to give to an organization that obviously values its people and provides for them a great workplace. That trickles out to families, friends, community, and beyond."
