Below the Belt Raises Funds for Cancer Research

Eighty golfers enjoyed a fantastic day of golf at the Below the Belt golf tournament on June 4 at The Club at Snoqualmie Ridge.

Thanks to the support of the tournament’s corporate sponsors, committee, and golfers, the event raised $33,000 to support prostate, testicular, liver, pancreas and biliary cancer research and education at Virginia Mason.

Chairing the tournament were Dr. John M. Corman, Medical Director, Perioperative and Procedural Services at Virginia Mason; Dr. Christopher R. Porter, Director of Comprehensive Testicular Cancer Clinic and Clinical Research at Virginia Mason; and Dr. Scott S. Helton, Director, Liver Biliary Pancreas Surgery Center of Excellence at Virginia Mason.

“This, our 12th annual golf tournament to benefit prostate, testicular and hepato-biliary cancer research and innovation at Virginia Mason may have been our best ever,” said Dr. Corman.  “In addition to a fine day out on the links, it was an opportunity to spend time with colleagues, to meet with patients and families, and to learn more about these diseases.  On behalf of my co-chairs, Drs. Helton and Porter, I’m grateful for this opportunity to raise funds and awareness for the important work that our cancer teams do every day.”
