The Boeing Classic is Back!
After a year away due to COVID-19, the Boeing Classic is back! This annual golf tournament, held at The Club at Snoqualmie Ridge, brings top professional golfers to our region. Proceeds benefit Benaroya Research Institute at Virginia Mason (BRI), whose mission is to predict, prevent, reverse and cure diseases that impact the immune system — from autoimmune disease to cancer to COVID-19.
“We’ve been cautiously optimistic that this year’s tournament would happen, but we didn’t know exactly what it would look like and if we’d be able to have spectators in-person,” says Brian Flajole, Boeing Classic Event Director. “We’ve been working directly with the governor's office on regulation and safety, and we’re excited to host the tournament largely as usual, adhering to the state’s guidelines for outdoor events.”
The Boeing Classic will be held from August 16-22, 2021. The event kicks off with Seahawks Rumble at the Ridge, where sponsors play a round of golf with local celebrities, which include local former pro athletes and business leaders. Then, the Korean Pro-Am tees off and sponsors and partners play the championship-caliber course. The professional tournament starts Friday with one of the highlights of the tournament: The Boeing Classic Flyover, where Boeing flies a jet directly over the golf course.
“We’ve seen a huge uptick in excitement about this tournament from golfers and non-golfers to get out and actually go to a live event,” Brian says.
Attendees can purchase tickets online for $20 or at the gate for $25. Proceeds fuel BRI’s research — from purchasing advanced tools to funding early-stage studies that help scientists test new ideas and ultimately apply for larger grants.
“People are blown away when we tell them about the groundbreaking research that BRI is conducting right here in our backyards,” Brian says. “They learn that when they support the Boeing Classic, they're supporting research that can really change people’s lives. It's always a privilege to highlight BRI and the great work they do.”
