Boeing Volunteers

Boeing Classic Volunteers Support Community
Nearly 1,000 people volunteer each year for the Boeing Classic PGA TOUR Champions Golf Tournament, the region’s premier annual golf event which benefits Benaroya Research Institute at Virginia Mason.

Many Opportunities to Participate
This great event wouldn’t occur without volunteers on 19 different committees. They come from all over the country and often come back year after year.

A Fun Vacation Volunteering
While Rennie Temple of Tucson, Ariz. was visiting Seattle friends who have volunteered for years at the Boeing Classic, he decided to join in the fun. He now visits his son in Tacoma every year and extends his trip to volunteer. “Meeting new friends and seeing familiar coworkers last year brought back many good times,” says Rennie. “It was so much fun that as we were heading back to Tucson, my wife was already writing down the date of next year’s Classic to make vacation plans around it.”

Giving Back to the Community
“My husband works for Boeing and I wanted to have a small part in helping Boeing give back to the community,” says Kelly Laxton of Peoria, Iowa. “I immediately felt welcome and part of a positive, well-organized team. Now I’m looking forward to my next Boeing Classic and hope to be a part of this team for many years to come!”

Ten Years of Friendship
Bob Akaki of Omaha, Neb. has volunteered for 10 years and enjoys being captain of the 17th hole. “My summertime trip is a chance to see my regular family as well as my Boeing Classic family,” he says. “I heartily recommend volunteering and thank all of my Boeing ‘family’ for making my experience memorable and rewarding. By the way, we help a pretty cool charity, too.”
