Last year, Virginia Mason Franciscan Health (VMFH) held one of the most successful employee giving campaigns to date. Over 800 employees participated in the campaign, collectively donating $330,000 to more than 50 funds across the health system.
Some employees gave to areas of care in which they work, while others made gifts to areas close to their hearts – ranging from clinical services to end-of-life care to employee wellness. A few of the popular areas of clinical support included the Center for Cardiovascular Health, the Center for Digestive Health, cancer care and the Center for Neurosciences and Spine.
“The collective impact of our employee’s gifts helps us fulfill our mission to improve the health of the people we serve, especially those who are vulnerable. We couldn’t be more grateful to our team for their generosity and dedication to our patients and community,” Jeanne Jachim, Vice President and Chief Philanthropy Officer of Virginia Mason Franciscan Health, says.
Within the greater VMFH network of care, many employees designated their giving to the Franciscan Hospice House and Bailey-Boushay House. Together, these two places offer personalized empathetic end-of-life care to thousands of community members and their families each year.
“Bailey-Boushay House fills a unique need for our community. I give to BBH because I know that our providers serve some of the most vulnerable patients who may have nowhere else to go,” says Josiah, a VMFH employee.
The Benaroya Research Institute (BRI), which is also an extension of the VMFH network, received a significant number of gifts. Together, these gifts support BRI’s commitment to advancing the science that will predict, prevent, reverse and cure diseases of the immune system.
Many employees also supported the Team Wellness fund. This fund provides dollars for wellness activities across the system like improved break rooms, team celebrations and well-being resources.
