Matching gifts are a great opportunity to double or even triple your impact for a meaningful cause – just ask Joel Nemerever, who has used Boeing’s matching program to increase his donations to several organizations over the past 40 years. When his wife Marilyn started working for Virginia Mason in 2016, they saw our impact first-hand. Ever since, the couple has directed some of their giving — and Boeing’s match — to support our organization.
“I’ve worked in healthcare in Seattle for over 30 years, and I’ve always been impressed by Virginia Mason,” says Marilyn, senior director, acute care. “When I started working here, I appreciated their approach even more. I’m so impressed by the balance of cutting-edge technology and personalized, respectful and compassionate care.”
Junior Nagaki and his wife Janice Nakamura have also used Boeing’s employee matching program to support Benaroya Research Institute at Virginia Mason (BRI). Junior, a retired computer engineer, and Janice, who taught middle school science for 25 years, are long-time Virginia Mason patients who have a passion for science and technology. This helps explain why they’re dedicated supporters of BRI’s innovative research.
“They’re probing the unknown, searching for answers to key questions about the immune system and human health,” Junior says. “It’s opening up further avenues and we really don’t know where they will lead. That’s why it’s exciting!”
From expert care at our hospital, to vital support at Bailey-Boushay House, to groundbreaking research at BRI, matching gifts have a profound impact across our organization. We encourage everyone in our community to check with their employer — or former employer, for retirees — to see if their gift is eligible for a company match!
