Virginia Mason Medical Center (VMMC) patient Katherine Hern says that although she is a woman of an “interesting age,” she is still as independent, responsible, and active as ever.
She credits her phenomenal care team with keeping her healthy so that she can enjoy many social activities with good friends and family.
“I find I’m beginning to have more issues associated with my health. It gives me, and my family, peace of mind to know I have a medical team looking out for me,” Katherine says.
Earlier this year, Katherine honored her entire primary care team when she decided to make a gift to VMMC.
She dedicated her gift to her first VMMC primary care physician, Dr. Leland Teng, her current provider, Dr. Nkeiruka Duze, nurse practitioner Loretta, and medical assistant Pablo. When she made the gift, she wanted to recognize their collective commitment to her care, and to show her appreciation for the value the team sees in each other.
“I began my journey with Dr. Teng, who is outstanding. Now I am with Dr. Duze who is incredibly smart and dedicated. Both treat me with care and genuine respect. I know that not everyone feels that way about their care team. And I tell everyone, come to Virginia Mason,” she says.
Along with providing excellent medical care, Katherine appreciates their cheerful attitude and how comfortable and calming everyone makes her feel. She says “They have my full trust and gratitude.”
“I really believe that I can stay focused on living my best life because I’ve got this wonderful team. Dr. Teng, Dr. Duze, nurse Loretta and Pablo are exceptional in every way.”
Each year we are honored to receive gifts from grateful patients and their family members that recognize a provider or a care team. Visit our Grateful Patient story page to learn more about celebrating your care team and sharing your story.
